A subdomain is a part of a web address that is under the main domain name, for instance name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Each subdomain could have its own web site and records and can also be hosted with a different company if you want to use some feature that is not provided by your current provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a company website and an online store under a subdomain where customers can acquire your products. In addition, you can have a forum where they can discuss the products and by using subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you are going to avoid any probability of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping your sites separated is less risky in case there is a script security breach.

Subdomains in Website Hosting

Every website hosting plan we offer will allow you to create many subdomains with no more than a few mouse clicks inside your hosting Control Panel. They're going to be listed in the area in which you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so that you can effortlessly keep track of all of them. Furthermore, you can access a lot of functions for any of the subdomains through right-click context menus - for instance, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the website files, and more. While creating a new subdomain, you are also going to have a number of options that you can pick from - determine the default access folder, create customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or select if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. What number of subdomains you are going to have is 100 % up to you because we have not restricted this feature for any of our plans.

All subdomains which you have within the account will be arranged under their root domain from a to z and you'll be able to see and manage all of them without difficulty. Through instant access buttons and right-click menus you'll also be able to jump to the website files in the File Manager area or see logs, visitor statistics and other information about any one of your subdomains.
